On Saturday we went to see Nick play bicycle polo on a tennis court at a park near Commercial drive. He's in the left foreground. You have to stay on your bicycle and put the ball between two pylons at the end of the court. Ros and I both tried it - it takes a lot of skill.

I used to play a murderous version of bike polo when I was a student in London. We used croquet mallets and cricket balls and found playing in a field less hurtful.I still have a dent in my right shin!!
Once all the spokes had been smashed on the wheels, we had to find more old bikes to use. Never wore helmets, of course, and no team ever won.
