Ros' Homework

Rosalind is working away at homework. Takes a while!

Christmas 2006 was fun. We had two Christmas dinners, one to send Naomi on her way east where she went to a wedding with Nick, another to see Chris and his partner Genieve and new baby Emily. Russell and Jane were often with us. Here are Jane and Ros.

And here I am signing books, hoping to remember names. It was fun. 

Here is the cake at my book signing today at Christ Church Cathedral. The picture is icing. Randy, I am told, put the beginning and ending dates on the cake. 

Sort of a sad sight. Female and male salmon who have spawned, guarded the eggs, and died together. 

Here is the Adams River. You can see the dark shapes of salmon spawning.

 

Russell showed pictures of his trip a couple of weeks ago to Bogata, Columbia, to a "Car-Free" conference. 

Thanksgiving 2006

We celebrated Thanksgiving at 1251 - Granny and Grandpa's. Guests were Rob Dickson, wife Mary Pat, and son Billy. Russell and Jane were there. Very nice.

And we took pictures of the CPR trains as they rumbled by. This is the main line. 

We visited the old Catholic church at Knotch Hill by the railway tracks once again. We saw it a couple of years ago. Still a home for pigeons. 

Friday we spent cycling around Sorrento. We went as far as a couple of wineries near Tappen and back again. 

Another day we spent the afternoon white water rafting down the Adams River. I was skeptical at first but really enjoyed it. Ros and I are at the back of the raft, ahead of the helmsman/guide. 

Phil MacIntyre was our leader. 

Really pretty... worth the climb. 

One day Ros and I hiked with a group up to the alpine meadows north of Shuswap Lake. Beautiful area and not all that many bugs. 

They even baked a cake for grandpa. Here he is with Barbara Anderson, the director of Sorrento. 

We spent a week at Sorrento again this year. Ros' parents were there that week - Jack again celebrated his birthday at this church retreat and educational centre. We took the van and it performed well. David drove the parents up and we drove them back home.
