Here's his big bicycle wheel with the small "freeway" blanket.

This described his art installations. He had two wooden bicycle wheels and two blankets.

On Saturday (May 5) we visited the Students' Art Show at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. Russell is finishing up at ECIAD, and this was his graduation art exhibit. Here he's posting (in the purple hat) with wife Jane.

She was too fast for us to catch up and take a picture at the finish but we found her in BC Place stadium. What an accomplishment! 42 km in about 4:10. Congratulations, daughter!

She was still quite fresh - doing better than she expected.

We next caught up with her on the Burrard Street bridge.

The off she went, with her brother's good wishes.

We intercepted her near Kits beach after she had run about 23 of the 26 miles of the event. She was very pleased to see us and asked us to take her jacket.

Naomi ran in the Vancouver marathon Sunday. Jane, Russell, Nick and I cycled to see her and cheer her on.

Flowers on the back porch purchased at the garden shop await planting. It is spring...

I love the long shadows on the grass of spring and summer. The tree is in front of our house.

What lovely blue colours in the flower in front of our sign.

On Sunday, Rosalind ran in the Sun run. Here she is, tired but happy, back home. She came in 36,048 out of about 54,000. Way to go!
Then we went inside City Hall for a reception and chatting with the military.
And the mayor stopped and chatted with the veterans, including Grandpa.
Mayor Sam Sullivan and council member (Susan Anton is the woman in white, I think), reviewed the troops.
Being honoured was the medical unit who operate out of Jericho in Vancouver, who were given the Freedom of the City by the Vancouver City Council.

The Vancouver Police Mounted Patrol was there too, looking very sharp, in front of one of the Olympic flags (since Vancouver will host the 2010 Winter Olympics).

On Saturday, April 14, Granny and Grandpa were outside City Hall waiting for a parade. They had seats of honour. Grandpa was told to wear all his medals.

And here they are with the plane all put together. They were going to do it without refering to the instructions but in the end had to look at them.

The Lego Boys

Russell and Nick made a plane out of Lego. Kids at heart, I guess...

Granny (who cannot be seen), Rosalind, Jane, Grandpa, Russell and David, and myself, gathered around the dining room table, said a few prayers, and talked about Pat - what a wonderful, sweet person she was, very devout - but never forcing that on her family - always cheerful and smiling, so hospitable, such a dear. She died at 90. We will always remember her.
We had a short ceremony on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 4, to remember Pat. It was very nice.

Here's a picture taken in 1993 in Vancouver of Pat Egan and her brother Jack Kellett. Pat died in London last week (see YouTube posting below), and we will miss her.

This is the BMW jar we have at work. BMW stands for "bitching, moaning, and whining" which those in the office who are participating have agreed to give up for Lent. B, M, or W and you have to put a quarter into the jar. Last year when we did this we collected $57 for charity. So far I'm about $2 down. The person holding the jar is Wilna Parry, the office receptionist.

So we did silly things and made silly faces (see below), and had a good time. I think David did too.
There should have been 58 candles but this many were enough.
Here's David's cake, a carrot cake made by his mother, his favourite.

My dear Kellett family

Here we all are on David's birthday. Grandpa, David (the birthday boy), Ros, Cathy, Nigel. Granny (who found it very hard to make a face!).

Christmas 2006 was fun. We had two Christmas dinners, one to send Naomi on her way east where she went to a wedding with Nick, another to see Chris and his partner Genieve and new baby Emily. Russell and Jane were often with us. Here are Jane and Ros.
