And the buildings are still going up. There are four construction cranes in this view from the bridge. I sometimes think the downtown peninsula is getting so dense it will sink. But it makes for a very lively city, all these people living there.
Heading into downtown in the morning. The new condominium highrise apartments are everywhere.
View from Cambie Bridge of the east end of False Creek, with a water taxi coming toward us. This is the sight I see most mornings as I cycle to work across the bridge on the way the work.
Hockey has ended for Ros for the season. Here's one of the last games. It is a beautiful field at Hamber School, with the North Shore mountains in the background.
Grandpa Jack Kellett showed the regimental flags stored in a cabinet at the Cathedral to Naomi when she was in Vancouver a couple of weeks ago. These World War I and II battle flags used to hang in the sanctuary but they got old and fell apart and looked awful. they've been restored and make a nice display now.

And I'm posting this picture of Ros just because I like the smile.
My son, in all his colourful glory. I do love this kid.
I keep putting up pictures of birthdays, and here is Russell's 27th. He's with Ros and his old school friend Aaron Wilson. Great outfit, I thought. The cake can't be seen but that's probably okay since it was a reused one - Ros hosted a baby shower for a fellow teacher two days before and they ate less than half the cake. It wasn't a good idea, I think. Every birthday boy should have his own cake!

Grandpa Jack Kellett is back in hospital, after what was apparently another mild heart attack. I've lost count... his fourth? or fifth? But he keeps on going and it keeps on ticking, at age 92. He's going to be moved to another hospital (he's at the Vancouver General now) to rest for a few days and then come home. He's a survivor, thanks goodness!

It wouldn't be Christmas at the Kellett's without a jigsaw puzzle. Grandpa had little trouble with this one. So we had two Christmases in 2005... one away and one at home.
I took the pictures from above, so I could get a better view of people, so Ros took me on the chair.
Here are Jane and Rayleen.
Rayleen Nash was with us, plus Nick with Granny & Grandpa.
Naomi and Nick flew in from Ottawa Dec. 29 to be with us Christmas-New Year's week and a bit beyond. Here we are at dinner at the Grandparents shortly after they arrived.

Before leaving, we visited the Lawrence Science Museum at the University in Berkeley, which Ros loves. Then back to Vancouver. A great getaway.
I got some "Grilling for Dummies" BBQ equipment from Chuck, which is apt, since I am a bit of a dummy when it comes to grilling. I'm looking forward to using it.
Here are Chuck, Ros, Louise (Chuck's family's good friend), Lori, Mike, and Tristan.
Christmas Day Leah lit the first Hanukkah candles. It was the first night of the Jewish holiday, so both families (Chuck's and my other brother Mike's) gave each other Hanukkah or Christmas presents.
Ros was very much in the festive spirit down there. Here we are at Chuck's house. We house sat for a few days when he and his family went to Montana to bring daughter Leah home from boarding school. They returned Christmas Eve.
We enjoyed being with my sister Marijo who lives near Chuck - across the street actually. One rainy day we went to Pier 39 in San Francisco and visited the Aquarium.
My brother Chuck showed us the new offices of his company, Charcoal Companion, which makes barbeque utensils and other things to go with patio cooking. He's very proud of it.
We went to California this Christmas to be with my brothers and sister in Berkeley and in Davis. The trip there (and the trip back) took two days. Weather was rainy, but not too bad. It really rained after we returned Dec. 27. (We went down beginning Dec. 19.)

The annual Christmas pageant at Christ Church Cathedral. Grandpa Jack was once again Simeon, at the end of the play. Russell was his assistant - helping him walk toward the Baby Jesus at the right time. All agreed he did a fine job - strong voice, no lines missed. Hurrah!

Now I'm 64 - must admit it. Ros threw me a party Dec. 2, the day. I sang, "Will you still need me, will you still feed me?..." I do still feel needed, and Lord knows, I'm well fed. Note the heat from all those candles.
