Went to the BC Lions vs Saskatchewan football game Saturday. We were in the end zone. BC lost, 13 to 12. It doesn't seem like a football stadium, but a big room. People seemed to be enjoying it though. 

It was a good getaway. Sorrento is beautiful, any time of the year. 

What I did mostly was pick apples. There were a lot of them. 

I went up with David. Here he is driving the Sorrento tractor, threatening to run me over. Also helping out is Arthur Nash.

I'll have to admit that poaching this pig was a bit gross. I had to turn it for over an hour. Actually, this wasn't my view of it, the rear end was. 

I spent a weekend at Sorrento Centre. It was associate's weekend. About 30 or so associates - people who donate a bit of money to Sorrento - come to help close the camp for the winter. A highlight was a pig roast.

In short, a very nice getaway. 

And fruit... 

Lots of pumpkins on sale. Ros got three. 

On the way back Ros and I stopped in at the Old Grist Mill near Keremeos, which is still working.. for tourists, not to grind flour as it did for 20 years in the late 1800s. 

Some of the wineries have art, in this case, a sculpture garden. 

We were lucky with the weather. While it rained a bit, generally not when were were out, and what rain there was came with a rainbow. Ros took this picture. 

Thus. Grapes behind a net. 

It is a beautiful area. This is not far from Naramata and the Kettle Valley bicycle trail - actually shot from the trail. This grpe grower has put his vines under nets, which isn't all that common, it seemed, though nets are used to cover the grapes. 

Ros and I went with six friends to the Okanagan this weekend, Oct. 1 & 2, to relax and tour wineries. Here we are at one of them - Valerie, Paul, John, Kitty (almost hidden), Ray, and Ros. Donna has stepped to the side to look at something other than wine. 

She was even able to tell the players which direction to go in - oh, no, this is ruling in favour of the red team... 

Soon she got the hang of it again, and was enjoying the game. 

She went out Burnaby for a game... I came, on my bicycle, and took a few pictures. 

Ros studied the field hockey rules Saturday. She was a bit nervous about being a referee. 

Russell was at the event all day, helping out. He brought the "love bike" which I sat on while the blessing took place. Afterwards Jane came, and with some other friends we went for supper. 

The Environmental Task Force of the Diocese of New Westminster sponsored a blessing during Vancouver's Car Free Day on Thursday (Sept. 22). Here the Rev. Peter Fischer is blessing me, or the bicycle, or both (I forget) assisted by Paige Dampier, of the sponsoring group. We didn't attract too many people to this event, but it was fun and I think worthwhile.

Andrea (Jane's sister), the family dog, me, and Maria. What was that dog's name? 

We visited Jane's family, the Buker's, last week. This shot was taken while taking a walk around their property in Rosedale, near Chilliwack. They have about 10 acres in the country. I like this shot because it's somewhat surreal, I think.
